No one likes to admit failure, but I’ve long since come to terms with the fact that the entire release of the English version of my debut novel was a complete failure. I was probably too hasty, and the lack of marketing—due to my mental state at the time—certainly contributed to that as well. Since the English version won’t be getting a sequel anytime soon due to its failure, I’ve now decided to take the print edition off the market for other reasons as well. Currently, the English version of Brown Eyed is only available as an e-book exclusively on Amazon. If I ever translate Chestnut Eyed, that book will probably also be released only as an e-book. However, that’s very unlikely.

I hope to one day make my childhood dream come true, in which my books will also be available on the international market. For now, though, I’m focusing on the German market, even if it doesn’t have much love left for non-white book characters.

'Brown Eyed' is a love story between two teenage boys, Levi Phan, and Jayson Young. As soon as their eyes crossed, not a second went by that the two didn't think about each other. The Levi and Jayson story took three full years to write, and I can't believe it will soon be available to everyone. Every time I think about it, I panic and stomach ache, but I also feel an insane joy.

While the story is intended for everyone, I hope to give the Black and East Asian communities in the first place a sweet little story where both communities are front and center, especially the LGBTQIA+ community.

'Brown Eyed' was a journey in which I learned much, although I thought I already knew so much. But you do learn something new every day. In those three years, so much has happened worldwide, partly influencing my writing process. I put incredible pressure on myself, didn't sleep many nights, and thought everything through five times, but I'm finally at a point where I'm proud and satisfied with my work.
